Blogs completely consisting of spam

I am thinking of switching to Plesk on our dedicated server. We are currently using Cpanel which is fine and all, but Plesk’s new interface looks too good to miss.

I’ve decided to find what other people might be saying about Plesk 7.5 Reloaded, so I’ve searched Feedster Blogs for “plesk”. What I’ve got in the results is a complete crap. Pages and pages of what looks like spam messages mostly posted on Blogger-powered blogs. Whole blogs of spam?

Update: After not finding anything interesting on the web about the new Plesk except a very good looking interface that I’ve noticed myself, I’ve decided to stay with Cpanel. Cpanel rocks anyway! :)

Btw, SW Soft, the developer of Plesk has an office in Russia, in Moscow. Actually I believe Plesk is developed in Moscow, at least partly. During my search for Plesk reviews I’ve stumbled upon a blog belonging to a Plesk developer and it was in Russian.

    Richard,

It is too late now for me, the new server is already setup and running with Cpanel. I think I would consider Plesk again on the next server change/upgrade.

Hello you are very correct it is not very easy to find information on the new PLESK 7.5.1-5

However I do have a full copy of the product and would be happy to share a full review with you.

I purchased the software 6 months ago. This was far earlier then when i needed it, as i wanted to play around with the software and get to know the ins-and-outs before I went live with the program.

I had more than a few problems trying to setup the software. In the installation package instructions it tells you that it must be installed on a “Fresh Installation of Windows Server” trust me on this guys…. THEY ARE NOT KIDDING!!!

If this is not the first item you install, you will not get it installed.

However when i did a fresh install of the operating system, PLESK did install very smoothly with no problems. The interface is beyond nice. It is highly functional too an extent too functional. The first copy I did not want to give my customers access to the Control Panel as their was just too many things I did not want them having access to. Luckily, their update to point five has fixed most of that, giving me more control over who can see what.

While playing around with the software I decided that some features looked to cool, not to try out for myself. However trying to get support on how to use the features is IMPOSSIBLE!!!

If you are looking for a testomony to the Company itself goto the PLESK forums. Only two persons from the company ever goto the forum, and they have plainly stated that they are not allowed to answer posts, unless they are on an extremely general basis. The forums are for fellow PLESK users only! support will not help.

Why? Because they sell support thats why. Companies are spending around 600USD a year to this company for support, they are not willing to help for free. It’s that simple.

Anyway, even though nothing was so called wrong with my software yet, I did not feel comfortable bringing my customers to the software so i removed it from the computer and shelfed the disk for a few months.

Lately I had a change of heart and decided that i wanted to give the software a try. I mean nothing malfunctioned it looked great and my customers need a decent interface.

So I installed PLESK back on my server, and ordered their application package for 199USD which is nothing but open source software, but the ease of use for your customers will do nothing but save you time and money in the future so i purchased it.

I then went to install DNN which was one of the included packages, and received the following error: “MS SQL is locked, as you have not yet purchased key for it”

I goto the site and its $99 USD!!! so i can run the package i already purchased twice!! as I was under the impression MS SQL came with my software as advertised.

If i had known this i never would have purchased the application pack in the first place. But to be civil I emailed the site and told them that the applications that i purchased to not run and they require additional packages, but rather than take a refund I would be happy to upgrade the application package to the full Power Pack that includes everything for the system and pay them the difference. THEY SAID NO!!! If i wanted to add things i had to purchase them one at a time and end up paying over twice the amount of the full package OR I could just purchase the Power Pack at full price and kiss my 199USD good bye as it is included in the Power Pack.

I originally went with this company, because It was a FULL WEBSERVER everything you could think of comes with it, and a nice friendly user interface for your customers. Although this is true and they do infact have great software with the best features on the market, the company is unreasonable, offers no help, and is contantly reaching into your wallet again and agian for items you were sure you already purchase from the wording of their advertising.

AWESOME SOFTWARE, little slow on Windows but cant beat the features anywhere.

HORRIBLE CROOKED COMPANY that needs to be avoided like the plague.
